Company Description The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), established in 1879, is Canada’s largest annual fair and one of the biggest in North America. Affectionately known as “The EX,” it offers a wide range of attractions including midway rides and games, live shows, agriculture displays, sports, diverse food options, and shopping. The CNE also features special events such as a three-day air show, drawing visitors from Toronto and surrounding regions.
As a major community celebration and long-standing tradition, the CNE provides a dynamic environment for team members who want to contribute to a large-scale public event. The fair typically runs for several weeks in late summer, with past dates including August 16 to September 2.
Role Description The Sponsorship Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, supporting the sponsorship team in delivering high-quality partner experiences. This position assists with day-to-day coordination of sponsorship activities, including preparing proposals, tracking deliverables, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
The Sponsorship
Assistant communicates with sponsors and internal stakeholders, responds to inquiries, and helps ensure that sponsorship agreements are fulfilled on time and according to specifications.
Responsibilities include conducting basic market research on potential partners, supporting in office activation during the fair, and helping with signage, branding,
and logistical details. The role also involves administrative tasks such as organizing documents, scheduling meetings, and assisting with post-event evaluations and summaries.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication and the ability to build positive relationships with sponsors and internal teams.
- Candidates should possess Market Research skills, including the ability to gather and analyze information about potential sponsors and industry trends.
- Candidates should possess Customer Service skills, with a focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and supporting sponsor needs before and during the event.
- Candidates should possess Sales and Sales & Marketing skills, including basic understanding of sponsorship sales processes and promotional strategies.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) and comfort working with databases or CRM tools.
- Ability to work on-site during event periods, including some evenings and weekends as required by fair operations.
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, event management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
