We are seeking caring and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our health care teams in correctional facilities across Ontario.

Our correctional facilities are located in the following regions and cities:

- Central Region: Milton, Brampton, Hamilton, Thorold
- Toronto Region: Etobicoke, Scarborough
- East Region: Ottawa, Napanee, Brockville, Lindsay
- West Region: Penetanguishene, London, Sarnia, Stratford, Windsor
- North Region: Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Monteith, Kenora, Fort Frances

Mandatory Requirements

- You are currently a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Nursing Knowledge and Experience

You can

- provide full scope of services to patients with complex health care needs and unpredictable outcomes
- collect, interpret and evaluate health information to complete comprehensive health assessments
- develop treatment and care plans, evaluate responses to planned interventions, and modify interventions in collaboration with the inter-professional team
- address emergency situations and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions

You have knowledge of skilled standards and guidelines, best practice guidelines, and nursing theories, practices, and relevant legislation such as the Regulated Health Professions Act and Health Care Consent Act.

Critical Thinking, Analytical and Organizational Skills

- You can provide emergency care, acute care, crisis intervention, health teaching, and counselling to patients with routine or complex health care needs, and/or unpredictable outcomes

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

You can

- work effectively with staff and patients
- advocate on behalf of patients on health care treatments
- explain possible side effects of medications and medical treatments
- provide health education, and promote and support treatment goals
- work as part of an inter-professional team




- use a team approach to deliver care to a diverse patient population

Hours of Work

- The hours of work for the full-time position are 40 hours per week and for the casual/irregularly scheduled position are 0-40 hours per week. You are expected to work rotating shifts in a health care unit that provides 7 days per week service, 24 hours a day.
- Irregularly scheduled (casual) positions provide an opportunity to gain correctional nursing experience and may lead to future temporary or permanent opportunities.

Northern Attraction Incentive Program (NAIP)

Successful applicants for opportunities in Thunder Bay, Monteith, Kenora and Fort Frances may qualify for financial compensation under the Northern Attraction Incentive Program (NAIP). NAIP is a pilot recruitment program which offers financial incentives to new hires in specific positions in designated institutions and probation and parole offices in Northern Ontario, including external candidates to the Ontario Public Service and existing employees who agree to work for a term of three years.
