Position Summary

Working together and with the guidance of a senior Technician, the Shop Technician diagnoses problems, performs repairs and provides preventative maintenance service on material handling equipment.

Specific Accountabilities

- Performs repairs and services on various types of material handling equipment and its components including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
- Performs preventive maintenance and Lift Device Inspection at prescribed intervals of time and repairs on various types of material handling equipment including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
- knowledge of utilizing electronic manuals, use of digital voltage meters and applicable diagnostic software for repairing/servicing of material handling equipment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic component diagnosis.
- Uses instruction manuals and wiring diagrams to diagnose components, and electrical wiring.
- Ensures work performed is verified and the truck cleaned and operational for delivery to the customer.
- Ensures customer/shop work area is clean and free of debris,



oil and grease.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education & Work Experience

Completion of a high school diploma and or equivalent work experience and at least 1 to 3 years of work experience in forklift or related fields such as automotive, heavy equipment etc.

Competencies and Skills

- Demonstrate basic knowledge of mechanical, Hydraulic and electrical systems of battery and Internal Combustion engine powered material handling equipment
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
- Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices
- Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid interpersonal, written and communication skills
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment

Working Conditions The Service Technician will work in an environment and would be exposed varying temperatures and subjected to dust, dirt, grease, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment. Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
