Reporting to the Senior Manager of Information Technology or designate, the Programmer Analyst will provide support, analysis, recommendations, and development of applications and databases, both existing and new, in a reliable, efficient, and optimized manner in support of student achievement. As well as, assist in the clarification of quantitative and qualitative data requests as they pertain to the Board’s corporate data.

The Programmer Analyst’s Role Is To

- Apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices including: Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Configuration, Documentation, Support, Training and Maintenance; towards in-house developed or 3rd party: business processes, integrations, applications and systems
- Use SQL to communicate with various relational databases for reporting, analysis and development scenarios
- Use Crystal Reports or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to design and support various reports
- Stay current with the latest programming technology and security and incorporate best practices
- Work with academic, administrative and Board staff and within the Ministry of Education guidelines and requirements
- Participate on various committees and user groups as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Education

- The successful candidate will possess a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, or a minimum 3-year community college diploma in Information Technology

Experience

- The minimum experience level for this position is three years of progressive experience in computer programming, analysis and design




- Exposure to Full Stack web development
- Experience with database storage structures
- Must be proficient in : Visual Studio, Structured Query Language (SQL),Microsoft SQL Server, .Net, C#, HTML, CSS, IIS and relational databases
- Experience with the following will be an asset: Oracle, JavaScript, Java and data warehouse exposure
- Experience with Crystal Reports, Microsoft Power BI/ SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Experience with Procedural and Object Oriented Programming
- Experience working with RESTful API’s

Other Requirements

- Candidate must demonstrate effective verbal/written communication skills as well as the ability to apply tact and good judgment in dealing with all levels of staff, and discretion in handling confidential information
- Strong organizational and planning skills are key, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through all phases to completion
- Experience with administrative school board business management systems, student information systems and Education Computing Network of Ontario (ECNO) applications would be an asset
- Must be able to travel within Windsor-Essex County as required
