About the Role
Get Your Own Taters is seeking a dynamic and reliable Part-Time Prep Cook to join our catering kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, remains calm under pressure, and brings a positive, team-first attitude to their work.
Scheduling will vary week to week based on event demands. Candidates must be highly flexible and available for early mornings, late nights, weekends, and long event days, especially during peak summer periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Food preparation using a variety of cooking methods, including large-batch cooking, protein preparation, sauce production, and fryer-based cooking
- Assisting with prep for catering orders and events using established recipes and procedures
- Packing and organizing catering orders
- Basic cooking, reheating, and finishing as required
- Dishwashing and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Loading and unloading food, equipment, and supplies for events
- Assisting at off-site events and/or food truck service
- Occasional travel to event locations
- Working primarily under supervision as part of a collaborative kitchen team
- Managing long hours during multi-event days or busy event weekends
Schedule & Availability
- 20–30 hours per week on average
- Flexible availability required
- Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and long shifts
- Hours may increase during high-volume event periods
Qualifications & Requirements
- Some kitchen or food service experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Food Handler / Food Safety Certification required(Certification costs will be reimbursed if obtained for this role)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding kitchen environment
