Development Manager-Java Microservices

- Pay Rate: $63.00/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 4 Months possible extension

Raise is currently hiring a Development Manager-Java Microservices on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

As a Manager Technology, you will lead and manage Java Microservices-based engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, high-performance solutions. You will work closely with clients, product managers, and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade applications that drive business value

Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor Java engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Architect, design, and develop Java-based microservices solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of microservices-based applications.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and prioritize technical requirements.
- Drive best practices in Agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps to accelerate software delivery.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of engineering initiatives.
- Stay updated on emerging Java and microservices trends, tools, and frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a customer-centric approach,



ensuring that technology solutions meet business objectives and user needs.

Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong focus on microservices architecture.
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams in an Agile workplace.
- Expertise in Java frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Hibernate.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to drive technical decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in a client-facing role.

- Experience in domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, and distributed tracing tools.
- Certifications in Java, Spring, or cloud platforms.
- Experience in financial services, e-commerce, or other enterprise environments.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical work experience).
- Java / Spring Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE (Developer)
- Spring Professional Certification (Spring Boot/Cloud)

- Cloud Platform Certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP):

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect / Developer
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect / Developer
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

- Methodology & Architecture Frameworks:

- TOGAF (for enterprise architecture context)
- Scrum Alliance Certifications (CSM or CSP for Agile leadership)
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD) formal workshop or professional training credentials

Additional information

Candidates in this role will be required to work at the client’s site 4 days a week in Brampton, Ontario
