The role will ensure that complex, multi-partner initiatives are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with both institutional and sponsor requirements. Acting on behalf of Western Research, the role provides institution-level direction and oversight for post-award obligations, including required reporting, compliance, and risk mitigation. By working closely with faculty leaders, funding sponsors, and campus partners, the Project Manager will implement best practices in project management, streamline communication and reporting, and intervene where necessary to address project delays, compliance gaps, or institutional risk. The role is central to enabling Western to maximize the impact of major research funding opportunities, particularly for high-value, high-risk, and highly visible initiatives involving complex governance, matching funds, capital or facilities requirements, and multi-sector partnerships.



The role will safeguard institutional accountability and sustain the University’s competitive edge in the national and global research landscape.QualificationsEducation:4 year Undergraduate DegreeProject Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent training/experience in project managementGraduate degree in a related discipline considered an assetExperience:5 years’ project management experience, within a research-intensive, academic, government, industry, or non-profit settingDemonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with strict timelines and deliverablesExperience in financial oversight, including budget tracking and sponsor reporting requirementsExperience interpreting and applying institutional or sponsor policies and proceduresExperience in managing facilities and capital activities/projects is preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and best practices, with the ability to tailor approaches to complex research environmentsKnowledge of post-award grant and contract administration processesProject management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelinesClient service skills to understand client needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University research communityAbility to handle details with a high degree of accuracy and to organize and prioritize a high volume of work to meet deadlinesAbility to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate University guidelines,
