Dean Group's Manufacturing division is now recruiting for a Forklift Operator for one of our reputable clients in Guelph.

Role: Forklift/Warehouse Operator
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Employment Type: Contract-to-Permanent
Shift: Days or Afternoons
Pay Rate: $24.40/hour + $1/hour premium for afternoons

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring the protected and efficient movement of goods throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

- Bring materials and packaging to the production area.
- Remove garbage and scrap bins from the production lines.
- Move and store finished products and materials safely.
- Keep materials clean, organized, and in the correct location.
- Make sure older materials are used first.
- Get materials and products ready for the next shift.
- Do basic daily checks and care for the forklift/tow motor, including checking the battery.
- Report equipment that needs repairs.
- Help with inventory counts.
- Move products in and out of warehouse racking.
- Keep the warehouse location records up to date.
- Empty scrap bins and record the scrap in the computer system.
- Wrap and secure finished products so they are ready to be shipped.




- Scan products into the correct warehouse location using the computer system.
- Report damaged products to Quality Control.
- Follow company safety, food safety, and workplace rules.
- Complete other tasks as needed.

Experience, knowledge and skills

- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Individual must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Must have good time management and organization skills
- Proficient in Warehouse Management system (WMS) as it pertains to scanning finished goods
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to follow written and verbal communication
- Must be proficient on a counterbalance tow motor and able to operate a tow motor with a slip sheet attachment
- Ideally a certified driver
- Must work independently as well as in a team setting
- Ability to understand and operate an RF scanner/Thor monitor and hand-held units on
- Clamp truck experience an asset
