Ontario Camera is looking for an experienced Camera Prep Technician to join our camera department. We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of professional cinema cameras, lenses and accessories who can help maintain our equipment to a high rental-house standard while supporting productions during camera prep.

This is a hands-on technical position. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a skilled camera rental house, as a camera technician, or within a professional camera department.

Responsibilities

- Regularly inspect, test and QC cinema cameras, lenses and camera accessories to ensure equipment is rental-ready.
- Diagnose equipment issues and perform in-house repairs and maintenance where appropriate.
- Coordinate equipment that requires manufacturer or third-party servicing and track repairs until equipment is returned.
- Perform lens shimming, back-focus adjustments and camera/lens calibration procedures.
- Use and understand a lens projector for evaluating, testing and servicing cinema lenses.
- Work directly alongside 1st ACs, 2nd ACs and camera teams during prep, assisting with equipment setup, testing, troubleshooting and technical questions.
- Prepare and maintain camera packages to Ontario Camera's technical and presentation standards.
- Inspect equipment when it returns from rentals and identify damage, missing components or equipment requiring additional service.
- Barcode, label and properly enter new camera equipment and accessories into inventory.
- Maintain organization and accuracy within the camera department and ensure equipment is stored correctly.
- Communicate closely with the CSR,



Sales and Camera teams regarding equipment availability, technical issues, repairs and upcoming preps.
- Identify equipment, accessories, replacement parts and consumables required by the camera department.
- Assist with purchasing and sourcing equipment and parts for the camera department.
- Maintain service records and preventative maintenance and QC schedules for cameras and lenses.
- Stay current with new cinema camera systems, firmware, accessories and industry technology.

Qualifications

- Previous professional experience as a Camera Prep Technician, Camera Service Technician, Rental House Technician, 1st/2nd AC, or similar technical camera role.
- Strong knowledge of professional cinema camera systems, lenses and accessories.
- Experience working with systems such as ARRI, Sony, RED, Canon and other professional cinema platforms.
- Strong understanding of professional cinema lenses, lens mounts and camera/lens calibration.
- Experience with lens projectors and lens shimming is strongly preferred.
- Ability to diagnose technical problems and determine whether equipment can be repaired internally or requires manufacturer servicing.
- Comfortable working directly with professional ACs and production camera departments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.




- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate between multiple departments.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a fast-paced rental-house environment.
