Full job description

The successful candidate will work with the field welding repair team on the Taylor Bridge Spring Repair Program. Previous welding or fabrication experience is preferred. Previous experience on the Taylor Bridge Repair Program is an asset but is not required.

What you’ll do

Under the direction of the Dawson Road Maintenance Supervisor, you will support bridge repair work by:

· Marking deficient or cracked welds

· Grinding out marked welds using electrical hand tools, primarily a small grinder

· Maintaining a secure and clean workspace

· Completing and maintaining required online company training and safety documentation before the project begins

What you’ll bring

· High school diploma or GED

· Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a current legal work permit

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; travel is required





· Fluency in English

· Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods on various surfaces

· Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl for extended periods while performing welder helper and labourer duties

· Willingness to work outdoors in hot, cold, and windy conditions

· Availability for 10-hour overnight shifts, Monday to Friday, approximately 5:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

· Ability to use electrical hand tools, primarily a small grinder

· Problem-solving, multitasking, planning, and organizational skills

· Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills

· Effective stress and time-management skills

· Ability to work respectfully with people of different personalities, cultures, and customs
