We are looking for an engineer who wants to own projects, not just support them. In this role you will handle quoting and costing across our global supplier network, manage material packages from sourcing through delivery to site, and carry assigned projects through our internal gate review process.
This is a busy, fast-moving setting with many projects running in parallel. We are hiring for engineering judgment, initiative, and drive — not for a checklist of prior exposure. We expect to train the right person on the parts they have not seen before, and we expect that person to finish what they start.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quoting, Costing & Sourcing

- Prepare and issue RFQ packages to suppliers worldwide, and compare returned bids on a like-for-like basis.
- Build and maintain cost models for fabricated and roll-formed steel parts, covering material, processing, coating, and freight.
- Support sourcing decisions between domestic and offshore options, taking landed cost, lead time, duty, and delivery risk into account.
- Support cost estimating on new project pursuits.

Supplier Management

- Act as the day-to-day contact for an assigned group of suppliers on both technical and commercial matters, across any region we buy from.
- Support supplier onboarding,



including capability and capacity review and commercial documentation.
- Track supplier performance on quality, delivery, and responsiveness, and follow through on corrective action when performance slips.
- Collect and verify supplier compliance documentation, including domestic content declarations where projects require them.

Project & Delivery Ownership

- Own assigned material packages end to end — from quote through purchase order, production, and delivery to site.
- Confirm and track supplier delivery commitments; escalate slippage early, before it affects the site.
- Maintain supply chain project trackers and gate review status, including purchase order registers, open risks, and action owners.
- Participate in and, over time, lead gate reviews with engineering, logistics, finance, and project management.
- Coordinate cross-border material movement between our Canadian and US operations, and inbound from overseas suppliers.

Quality & New Part Launch

- Review drawings and bills of material for clarity and completeness before they are released to suppliers.
- Work with Polar engineering and supplier engineering to resolve drawing, tolerance, and manufacturability questions.
- Support first article review and new part approval on new project awards, and help develop this process as the business grows.
- Take on any assignment within the scope of supply chain in the solar industry, as required by the business, along with other reasonable duties assigned by management. Priorities shift with project demand, and we expect flexibility in what you pick up.

WHAT YOU BRING

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering — Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
- A strong academic record demonstrating consistent high performance through your degree.
- Three to five years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, project management, or supply chain environment.
- Strong Excel skills — comfortable building and maintaining your own cost models and trackers.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, and comfort using AI tools in day-to-day work.
- Professional spoken and written English; you will deal with suppliers and internal leadership directly.
- A self-starter who takes ownership and finishes the job — you pick up a project, drive it through, and close it out rather than waiting to be asked.
- Ability to stay focused and organized in a busy environment with competing priorities.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% to supplier and project sites in the United States and Canada.
- Interest in building a long-term career and growing with the organization.

NICE TO HAVE

- Registered as an EIT or working toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Quality background or knowledge — inspection, corrective action, 8D, PFMEA, or supplier quality.
- Exposure to a structured new product launch process such as APQP or PPAP.
- Experience in automotive, or in the manufacturing or design of structural components.
- Procurement, sourcing, or buying experience.
- Familiarity with steel supply — mills, service centres, roll forming, fabrication, or galvanizing.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and GD&T.;
- Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners.
- Solar, renewable energy, or construction product experience.
- Cross-border logistics, customs, or tariff exposure.
- Six Sigma, ASQ, SCMP, or CPSM certification, held or in progress.
