Data Governance Analyst – Cloud Data Platform (Snowflake / Informatica)

The Role

Our client is moving its enterprise data warehouse from Amazon Redshift to Snowflake, and an Informatica data governance platform goes live this fall. You will be the data steward for the recent platform. As new pipelines and data models come online, you make sure the data is catalogued, its lineage is documented, sensitive fields are classified and protected, and its quality is measured.

You’ll join a young, growing data governance team inside a business analytics group, as a backfill into an established seat. The team has a proven promotion track: a recent steward was promoted to supervisor and coaches the new hires.

What You’ll Do

- Catalog the new platform. Build and maintain catalog entries, business glossary terms and definitions for data landing in Snowflake, working with data owners.
- Document lineage. Track where data comes from, how it flows from hub to hub, and the transformation logic applied along the way.
- Classify and protect sensitive data. Apply classification tags to confidential and personal (PII) fields, verify that masking policies and security controls are in place and working, and close audit findings.
- Measure data quality. Define proactive and reactive data quality rules, build data quality scorecards and dashboards, and own issues from logging and root cause through remediation with business owners.




- Help run the Informatica rollout as a daily user: take part in testing and knowledge transfer with the integration partner, then use the tool to build the catalog and scorecards and to raise support cases.
- Identify critical data elements (CDEs) on the platform and make sure they have owners and quality rules.
- Improve how the team works: continuous-improvement (Kaizen) projects, department SOPs and annual policy reviews.
- Build data literacy so business users understand the data and can self-serve with confidence.

This is a governance role, not an engineering role. You won’t build the pipelines, and data reconciliation between Redshift and Snowflake is handled by a separate analyst team.

What You Bring

- 2+ years of hands-on experience in data governance, metadata management, data cataloguing or data quality, where you owned catalog, lineage, classification or DQ work. Pipeline development or data validation alone is not enough for this role.
- Hands-on use of a data governance or catalog tool: Informatica (CDGC/Axon/IDQ), Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, Atlan or similar.
- Intermediate or better SQL for data profiling, lineage tracing and data quality rules. Shortlisted candidates complete a SQL assessment.
- Working familiarity with a modern data platform (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, BigQuery or Azure)



and how data moves through pipelines.
- Understanding of data classification and privacy controls: PII, masking, access, retention.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management or similar).
- Clear communication with business and technical audiences.
- A real appetite to learn. This team values proactive self-development and provides training and coaching to match.

Strong assets - Informatica coursework or certification (IDMC / CDGC / Data Quality) - Snowflake tagging, masking policies or governance features - Financial services data experience (lending, leasing or consumer finance a plus) - Regulatory context: privacy (PIPEDA), OSFI, SOX or BCBS 239 - Python for data profiling

- Full time, permanent. Two data steward positions are open on this team; this posting is for the cloud data platform seat.
- Compensation: $74,500 – $95,000 CAD per year, plus perks.
- Hybrid: on-site in Markham, ON, Tuesday to Thursday.
