Position: Janitorial Services – Residential Cleaner

Status: Two (2) Permanent Part Time

Program: Specialized Housing

Initially assigned to: 594 Lakeshore drive - CHO

Purpose:The Janitorial Services – Residential Cleaner reports to the Program Manager and helps maintain clean, safe, and welcoming living environments for residents. The role provides resident-centered cleaning and sanitation services and, through a strengths-based approach, supports and encourages resident participation in household activities according to individual abilities and goals.

Education and training:

· Proof of successful completion of High School Diploma or GED

Requirements:

· A negative Police Vulnerable Sector Check

Current Intermediate/Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificate required

· Able to lift at a minimum 20 lbs. from squatting to standing position

· One (1) position is Bilingual - (English/French) is required

Experience:

· Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a related field is an asset

· Experience in residential, commercial, healthcare, or supportive housing cleaning environments

· Experience working with vulnerable populations, specifically adults living with a serious and persistent mental illness and/or acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or Addictions and/or complex healthcare needs providing assessments and rehabilitation services is asset

· Lived experience with Mental Health, and experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness is an asset

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Strong understanding of infection prevention, cleaning practices,



and safe chemical handling.

· Working knowledge of basic janitorial processes.

· Ability to work cooperatively and independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

· Good interpersonal/verbal/written communication skills

· Ability to maintain confidentiality as per PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act)

Selection Process: Candidates will be selected for the position based on their skill, ability, experience, and qualifications as identified in their resume

Shift: Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

French Language Services Required: Bilingualism in English and French is required for this FLS-designated position. Priority will be given to candidates who meet the bilingual requirement. However, unilingual candidates are still encouraged to apply and may be considered if the French language requirement can be otherwise fulfilled or if no suitable bilingual applicants are identified. A formal French proficiency test will be conducted.

Salary: $20.91/hour





$38,056* (*based on full-time hours)

This is a bargaining unit position. Internal candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and requirements will be given priority consideration before external applicants.
