Part-Time Math Teacher

About the Position

We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible Part-Time Math Teachers to join our growing education team in Calgary. The successful candidates will work with elementary, junior high, and high school students and provide engaging, high-quality mathematics instruction based on students’ individual learning needs.

This position is ideal for university students, graduates, teachers, or experienced tutors with a strong mathematics background who enjoy working with children and teenagers.

Responsibilities

- Teach mathematics to elementary, junior high, and high school students.
- Prepare lessons based on each student’s academic level, learning needs, and goals.
- Help students strengthen foundational mathematics skills while developing problem-solving, logical reasoning, and advanced mathematical thinking.
- Support students with the Alberta mathematics curriculum, schoolwork, tests, and examinations.
- Assign appropriate practice and homework when needed.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and the teaching team.
- Maintain a positive, patient, and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

- Currently pursuing or holding a university degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Science, or another mathematics-related field.
- Strong academic background and demonstrated proficiency in mathematics.




- Familiarity with the Canadian Kindergarten to Grade 12 mathematics curriculum, particularly the Alberta curriculum.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt explanations to different student levels.
- Ability to teach mathematics entirely in English.
- Patient, responsible, organized, and comfortable working with children and teenagers.
- Reliable and able to maintain a consistent teaching schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are considered assets but are not required:

- Previous mathematics teaching or tutoring experience in Canada.
- Experience working with elementary, junior high, or high school students.
- Familiarity with Alberta school mathematics courses and assessments.
- Experience preparing students for mathematics competitions or knowledge of the Canadian mathematics competition system.
- Experience teaching advanced mathematics or enrichment programs.

Schedule

Classes are primarily offered:

- After school on weekdays
- During evenings
- On weekends

Scheduling is flexible and can be arranged based on teacher availability and class needs.
