Ruth's Chris Steak House Edmonton

Edmonton

Bring the Sizzle

There is nothing quite like the sound of a Ruth’s Chris steak arriving at the table.

Canada Prime beef, broiled at extremely high temperatures, finished with butter and served sizzling on 500-degree plates. The aroma, the presentation, the unmistakable sizzle. It is an experience our guests remember.

And it all starts in the kitchen.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House Edmonton is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team.

Working alongside our Executive Chef, the Sous Chef plays a key role in leading daily kitchen operations, developing our culinary team, protecting food quality and safety standards, controlling costs, and ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen represents the Ruth’s Chris name.

This is not simply a senior line-cook position. We are looking for a hands-on culinary leader who can take ownership of a busy kitchen, coach people in the moment, maintain exceptionally high standards, and lead confidently when the pressure is on.

What You’ll Do

- Lead kitchen execution during high-volume dinner services
- Support the Executive Chef in the overall operation and leadership of the kitchen
- Ensure steaks, seafood, sides, appetizers, and desserts are prepared consistently to Ruth’s Chris specifications
- Protect our signature steak experience, including proper preparation and presentation on sizzling 500-degree plates
- Conduct thorough line checks and ensure every station is prepared for service
- Monitor food quality, presentation, ticket times, and kitchen flow throughout the shift
- Lead, coach, train, and develop cooks, prep team members,

dish team members, and future culinary leaders
- Provide clear real-time direction and hold employees accountable to performance standards
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards
- Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory management, product rotation, and waste control
- Support food cost, portion control, purchasing, and profitability targets
- Assist with scheduling, labour management, and staffing based on business levels
- Work closely with front-of-house management to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences
- Support private dining, large parties, seasonal menu features, and special events
- Take ownership of kitchen operations when the Executive Chef is not present
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, training, and overall culinary performance

What We’re Looking For

Previous Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Chef de Partie, or comparable culinary leadership experience is required. Experience in a high-volume steakhouse, premium full-service restaurant, hotel, or fine-dining setting is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate brings strong culinary fundamentals, attention to detail,

and the ability to remain composed during demanding services. You should be comfortable coaching experienced cooks, making decisions quickly, maintaining standards under pressure, and working collaboratively with both culinary and front-of-house leadership.

Experience with food cost, inventory, ordering, labour management, waste control, food safety, and kitchen administration is key.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership.

The Kind of Leader We’re Looking For

You notice when a station is falling behind before it becomes a problem.

You understand that consistency matters just as much on a Tuesday night as it does when the dining room is full on Saturday.

You coach instead of simply criticizing. You understand that developing a strong kitchen team requires expectations, accountability, communication, and respect.

And when service gets intense, you don’t disappear.

You step onto the line.
You support your team.
You protect the standard.

And you keep the sizzle going.

What We Offer

Competitive salary, gratuity participation, health and dental benefits, paid time off, dining discounts, professional development, leadership training, and opportunities for advancement.

Join the culinary leadership team at Ruth’s Chris Steak House Edmonton and become part of one of the most iconic names in fine-dining steakhouse hospitality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- Dental care
- Flexible schedule
- On-site parking
