Healthy Heart Institute is seeking an experienced Procedural Support Clinician to join our cardiac and diagnostic team in Red Deer.

We are looking for a confident, patient-focused clinician with strong IV insertion skills, ECG interpretation abilities, sound clinical judgment, and experience monitoring patients in procedural or higher-acuity environments.

We are open to candidates from different regulated clinical backgrounds. The successful candidate's demonstrated skills, relevant experience, clinical judgment, and ability to work safely and independently within their professional scope will be our primary considerations.

Position Overview

This position primarily supports our Nuclear Cardiology and cardiac diagnostic testing services. The clinician works closely with physicians, technologists and other clinical staff to prepare and monitor patients undergoing diagnostic procedures and stress testing.

The role requires someone who is comfortable assessing patients, recognizing changes in clinical condition and responding appropriately in a quick-paced outpatient environment.

Responsibilities

- Perform IV insertions and prepare patients for diagnostic procedures
- Obtain and review ECGs and recognize abnormal rhythms or concerning changes
- Monitor patients during cardiac stress testing and other diagnostic procedures
- Assess patients before and throughout testing
- Recognize and appropriately escalate abnormal patient responses, arrhythmias, symptoms or changes in clinical condition
- Assist physicians and technologists during procedures
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients regarding testing




- Respond appropriately to adverse reactions and urgent clinical situations within professional scope
- Complete accurate clinical documentation
- Support patient flow and coordination throughout the clinic
- Provide general clinical support across diagnostic services as required
- Work collaboratively with physicians, technologists and other members of the clinical team

Qualifications

- Current registration/licensure in good standing with an applicable Alberta regulatory college
- Strong IV insertion skills
- Strong ECG rhythm interpretation skills and ability to recognize concerning changes
- Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment
- Experience monitoring patients during procedures, diagnostic testing or in a higher-acuity clinical environment
- Ability to recognize patient deterioration or adverse responses and escalate appropriately
- Ability to work independently within professional scope while collaborating effectively with the clinical team
- Excellent patient communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Calm and confident approach to urgent or unexpected clinical situations

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be considered a strong asset:

- Cardiology
- Emergency or urgent care
- Acute care
- Cardiac or telemetry monitoring
- Stress testing




- Procedural care
- Diagnostic imaging
- Nuclear Cardiology

ACLS certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold ACLS certification should be willing to obtain it.
