TheCityofOwenSoundisseekingadetail-orientedandanalyticalprofessionaltojoinourFinanceteamasaFinancialAnalyst .ReportingtotheFinancialServicesSupervisor,thispositionplaysakeyroleinmaintainingtheCity'sfinancialintegritythroughfinancialreporting,analysis,budgetingsupport,treasuryfunctions,businesssystemssupport,andcontinuousimprovementinitiatives.

TheFinancialAnalystworkscollaborativelyacrosstheorganizationtoprovidefinancialinsight,supportdecision-making,enhancefinancialprocesses,andensurecompliancewithmunicipallegislation,accountingstandards,andinternalcontrols.Thispositionalsosupportscustomerserviceinitiatives,financialtechnologymodernization,andcorporatereportingrequirements.Thispostingisforanexistingvacancy.

WhatYou’llDo

FinancialReporting&Accounting;

- Prepare,review,andreconcilegeneralledgeraccounts,journalentries,paymentvouchers,andfinancialtransactions.
- Assistwithannualfinancialstatements,year-endworkingpapers,andexternalauditrequirements.
- Maintainandsupportaccountingrecordsfortangiblecapitalassets,includingacquisitions,disposals,andtransfers.
- Providefinancialanalysisandreportingtodepartmentsacrosstheorganization.
- SupportcompliancewithPublicSectorAccountingStandards(PSAS),GenerallyAcceptedAccountingPrinciples(GAAP),municipallegislation,andinternalcontrols.

Budgeting&FinancialAnalysis;

- Supportthepreparation,monitoring,andreportingoftheCity'soperatingandcapitalbudgets.
- Conductvarianceanalysisandfinancialforecasting.
- Assistwithreservefund,fleet,capital,andcorporatefinancialreporting.
- Providefinancialinformationtosupportlong-termplanningandoperationaldecision-making.
- Identifyopportunitiestoimprovereportingprocessesandorganizationalefficiency.

FinancialSystems&BusinessImprovement;

- Assistwithimplementation,testing,configuration,andsupportoffinancialandbusinesssystems.
- Participateinreportdevelopment,systemenhancements,useracceptancetesting,andprocessimprovementinitiatives.
- SupportongoingadministrationandcontinuousimprovementoffinancialapplicationsandERPsystems.




- Liaisewithfinancialinstitutionsandvendorsregardingelectronicbanking,paymentprocessing,andtreasury-relatedtechnologies.
- Supportcustomer-facingfinancialtechnologiesincludingonlinepaymentsystemsandcustomerportals.

Revenue,Treasury&CustomerService;

- Providesupportfortaxandwaterbilling,collections,andcustomeraccountinquiries.
- Assistcustomerswithpaymentoptions,accountregistration,andonlineservices.
- Supporttreasuryoperations,electronicbankingtransactions,reconciliations,andpaymentprocessing.
- Providebackupsupportforaccountspayableandrelatedfinancialfunctions.
- Assistwithcustomercommunicationsrelatedtofinancialservicesandprocessimprovements.

InformationManagement&AdministrativeSupport;

- ActasaFinanceDivisionSharePointKeyUserandsupportcontinuousimprovementofinformationmanagementprocesses.
- Maintaindocumentlibraries,permissions,andrecordsmanagementstandards.
- Collaborateoninformationgovernanceandrecordsretentioninitiatives.
- ProvidebackupsupportforServiceOwenSoundcustomerserviceoperations.
- Participateinprojectsthatimprovecustomerservice,strengtheninternalcontrols,andenhanceorganizationaleffectiveness.

WhatWe’reLookingFor

Education&Experience;

- Two-yearCollegeDiplomainAccounting,Finance,Economics,BusinessAdministration,orarelateddiscipline.
- Minimumthree(3)yearsofexperienceinafinancialoraccounting-relatedrole.
- Municipalexperienceisconsideredanasset.
- MunicipalTaxAdministrationProgramand/orMunicipalAdministrationProgramcertificationconsideredassets.

Skills&Competencies;

- Knowledgeofaccountingprinciples,budgeting,forecasting,varianceanalysis,andfinancialreporting.
- Understandingofmunicipalfinancelegislation,regulations,andbestpractices.
- Stronganalytical,problem-solving,andorganizationalskills.
- Highdegreeofaccuracyandattentiontodetail.




- Excellentcommunication,customerservice,andinterpersonalskills.
- Abilitytomanagecompetingprioritiesandmeetdeadlineswithminimalsupervision.

Compensation&Advantages;
