As the primary IT point of contact, the successful candidate will have a visible impact on the day-to-day employee experience while also contributing to systems administration, cybersecurity, technology projects, and process improvements. The role offers the opportunity to work beyond traditional desktop support and develop a well-rounded IT skill set in a growing business environment.
Key Responsibilities
As the IT Support and System Administrator , you will serve as the primary IT point of contact for the business, ensuring reliable, secure, and well-managed technology operations while contributing to broader corporate IT initiatives.
End-User Support & Service Management:
- Provide remote and in-person technical support for computers, mobile devices, printers, conferencing equipment, software, and other workplace technology.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, connectivity, network, and access issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, patch, and replace end-user hardware and software in accordance with established IT standards.
- Manage incidents and service requests through the approved IT service-management process, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
- Deliver a responsive, customer-focused experience while maintaining clear communication with employees and stakeholders.
Systems Administration & Access Management:
- Manage or assist with user accounts, permissions, access requests, endpoint configurations, device compliance, and security controls within approved responsibilities.
- Support employee onboarding, offboarding, equipment changes, and technology refresh activities.
- Help maintain secure and reliable Microsoft-based systems and business applications.
- Identify and elevate policy, security, access, or process exceptions in accordance with established procedures.
Documentation & IT Operations:
- Maintain accurate records for users, equipment, applications, vendors, recurring issues, system configurations, and support procedures.
- Document technical changes, incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to support consistent service delivery.
- Maintain technology and asset information and contribute to the standardization of IT processes.
- Help ensure local IT operations, vendors, equipment, and support practices align with corporate policies, procedures, security requirements, and approved standards.
Projects, Security & Continuous Improvement:
- Support technology initiatives such as system rollouts, application deployments, office moves, audits, security improvements, and process standardization.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, service desk, and business teams on projects and operational priorities.
- Contribute to endpoint management, cybersecurity, asset management, and policy-compliance initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT processes, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance the employee technology experience.
- Provide on-call support when required for emergencies, critical incidents, or planned system maintenance.
Business & Vendor Coordination:
- Act as the primary technology liaison for the business, coordinating requests, incidents, vendors, and escalations as required.
- Work with internal IT teams and external vendors to address technical issues and support business priorities.
- Travel locally or regionally within Canada when in-person technology support or project assistance is required.
- Contribute to consistent, scalable, and well-documented technology practices as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience:
- 2–4 years of experience in desktop support, service desk, systems administration, field support, or a similar IT role.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience providing both remote and hands‑on technical support to end users.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, user accounts, access requests, hardware, and common business applications.
- Experience with ticketing, service requests, incident escalation, and technical documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience with user account and access management, endpoint configuration, hardware, software, and basic networking.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Azure, or another endpoint‑management platform is an asset.
- Experience with scripting and automation, including PowerShell, is an asset.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, asset management, and policy compliance.
- Experience supporting ERP, ETRM, financial, logistics, or other business‑critical applications is an asset.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications are an asset.
- French-language capability is an asset where required by the assigned location or stakeholder group.
