Work Workplace: The Princess Margaret Living Biobank at University Health Network is a multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on cancer experimental therapeutics using biomarker-selected patient-derived tumor xenograft (PDX) models. Our fundamental objective is to establish new clinical relevant cancer models for precision oncology research.

Responsibilities :

- Perform a variety of mouse care duties that include daily monitoring of experimental animals (e.g. health, body weight, tumor size with skin fold), simple small animal surgery (e.g. flank subcutaneous site), drug administration (e.g. oral gavage, i.p.).
- Record accurate data, report experimental results and databases management.
- Assist various routine molecular and cellular laboratory assays for quality control purpose.
- Responsibilities advance depending on qualifications and interests.
- Perform in an environment handling and learning mouse procedures.
- Work in a biosafety level 2 lab wearing personal protective equipment for long periods including surgical gown, mask, gloves.




- Follow tasks that are in accordance with standard lab protocols and institutional governing documents.
- Support team members and researchers in dynamic and challenging research groups with a positive attitude and focused on accomplishing tasks and goals for projects.

Qualifications :The preferred candidate should have an interest/knowledge of animal care. We highly welcome a candidate that has applied standard operating procedures, and demonstrated experience in detailed, precise and accurate research lab work. Skillful in precise hand-eye coordination to perform simple surgical procedures is an asset. The candidate should demonstrate abilities to communicate clearly, orally and written. Basic knowledge in cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology and biochemistry would be an asset.
