About the Role

Reporting to the Mine Engineer, the Survey Technician supports technical services and mine operations at the Penhorwood Mine. The role completes survey layout and pickup work, plans and executes drone flights, processes survey data, and supports accurate data collection across the mine and related facilities.

Responsibilities
Support mine operations, the contract miner, and technical services with survey layout, pickup, and data collection activities
Complete GPS and Total Station survey work for mine designs, roads, stockpiles, drillholes, infrastructure, and other operational areas
Plan and conduct aerial drone surveys and support blast monitoring using drone or ground-based cameras
Process survey data and support month-end reconciliation and related technical reporting
Verify survey equipment and GPS calibration and complete settlement surveys of mine structures
Follow and promote company health and safety requirements, including protected work at heights and on uneven terrain

Qualifications & Experience
Certificate or diploma in minerals or mining engineering
Proficiency with GPS, Total Station, aerial drones, and associated software
Familiarity with open-pit mining or quarrying
Knowledge and understanding of quality control practices and quality systems




Valid G driver's licence

Robust computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
Quality-focused, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work effectively under pressure in an active mining environment

A hands-on team member who can work outdoors, walk over uneven ground, and stand for prolonged periods
Ability to lift and use survey equipment weighing up to 25 kg
Comfort working at heights, from elevated work platforms, and with fall-arrest equipment when required
