About the Role:
As a CNC Programmer you will be an integral part of our Advanced Manufacturing team. You will turn complex aerospace designs into efficient, reliable machining programs. You'll own a part from CAM through first article: programming multi-axis mills and EDM, proving out at the machine, and working with engineering to make parts easier to build.
This is a hands-on role split between the programming office and the shop floor. It suits someone who likes solving hard workholding and toolpath problems and wants to see their work go straight into flight hardware.
Core Responsibilities:
- Write CNC programs for 3-axis, 3+2, and simultaneous 5-axis milling centers, plus wire and sinker EDM, using CAM software such as hyperMILL, Mastercam, or machine-specific EDM software.
- Prove out recent programs at the machine and support first-article inspection (FAI) so parts meet print on the first production run.
- Edit and troubleshoot NC code on the shop floor to cut setup time, reduce scrap, and keep machines running.
- Design and build custom fixtures and workholding for complex, tight-tolerance aerospace parts.
- Improve tooling, toolpaths, and cutting strategies to shorten cycle times and extend tool life, and write down lessons learned so future jobs benefit.
- Work with engineering early in the design process and give design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback that lowers cost and machining risk.
- Inspect parts with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, height gauges, and CMM, and interpret drawings and GD&T; per ASME Y14.5.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience, including simultaneous 5-axis milling.
- College diploma in Machining, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related field, or a General Machinist (430A) or CNC Programmer certificate.
- Hands-on skill with hyperMILL, Mastercam, or a similar CAM package, and comfort editing G-code by hand.
- Experience programming or setting up wire and/or sinker EDM.
- A track record of proving out programs at the machine and taking parts through first article.
- Strong print reading and working knowledge of GD&T; per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience designing fixtures and workholding for complex parts.
- Comfort machining aerospace materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume production environment is an asset.
- Clear communication with engineers, machinists, and quality, and the habit of documenting what you learn.
