JOB TITLE: Cyber Security Analyst

LOCATION: Ottawa, ON

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Hybrid — 3 days per week in office

SALARY: $75,000 – $100,000 per year

ABOUT THE ROLE

GoodJobIT is recruiting on behalf of a client organization in the Ottawa region for a Cyber Security Analyst to join their growing security operations team. The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day security monitoring, threat detection, incident investigation, and supporting the organization's overall cybersecurity posture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitor security alerts and events across SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, including phishing, malware, and unauthorized access attempts.
- Support firewall configuration changes and vulnerability management activities.
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans and track remediation progress.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with security frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001.
- Document security incidents, investigations, procedures, and response activities.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams on system hardening and access management.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours incident response.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security,



or IT security.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
- Understanding of core network security principles and common cybersecurity attack vectors.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Security certification such as Security+, CySA+, or similar is an asset.
- Bilingual English/French is an asset for candidates in the National Capital Region.
