Hofhuis Farms Inc. is a progressive dairy operation managing the milking of 200 cows across two locations, utilizing advanced automation with four Lely robotic milking systems. We are dedicated to sustainable practices and innovative farm management to ensure high-quality dairy production.

Hofhuis Farms is looking for an experienced, dependable and hands-on person to become a trusted right-hand person on our dairy and crop farm.

This is more than a general farm labour position. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working hands-on but is also comfortable taking responsibility, solving problems and making decisions independently. The right person will be able to step in wherever needed and help keep the farm running smoothly when the owner is away.

Responsibilities

- General dairy farm work and stepping in wherever needed
- Filling in for feeding when our regular feeder is off, including occasional weekends
- Monitoring and responding to robotic milking system alarms
- Routine robot maintenance and troubleshooting
- Helping with cow and calf care as needed
- Operating tractors, loaders and other farm equipment
- Field work including planting, forage and grain harvests, manure, tillage.
- General equipment and facility maintenance
- Identifying problems and taking initiative to get them resolved
- Helping coordinate day-to-day farm activities when the owner is away

Hours & Schedule This is a full-time position, and flexibility with hours is important.

Most of the year follows a fairly regular schedule, but longer days and additional hours should be expected during planting, harvest and other weather-dependent field work.

We understand that flexibility goes both ways and aim to provide flexibility during quieter times of the year as well.

On-Call & Vacation Coverage





This is not a constant on-call position.

We are looking for someone who can take on additional responsibility when the owner is away. This would typically mean an occasional weekend, and a few planned vacation periods throughout the year.

During these times, the successful applicant would be a key person responsible for responding to robot alarms, troubleshooting problems and helping ensure the farm continues to run smoothly.

Who We're Looking For The ideal person will be:

- Dependable, responsible and trustworthy
- Comfortable working independently
- Experienced with dairy cattle and farm equipment
- Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot problems
- A capable tractor and equipment operator
- Able to make valuable decisions without needing constant direction
- Flexible during busy seasons
- Willing to jump between different jobs depending on what needs to be done
- Interested in taking on responsibility and becoming an important part of the farm

Experience with robotic milking systems is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person. Compensation & Housing

Approximately $25-30/hour, depending on experience, skills and ability.

We are also open to discussing an annual salary arrangement for the right person.

Housing may be available as part of the employment arrangement, depending on the needs of the successful applicant.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
