Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including trucks and vans, to deliver freight across designated routes
- Load and unload cargo using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and secure placement of goods
- Inspect vehicles regularly for safety, mechanical issues, and compliance with transportation regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and freight records throughout each shift
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment when required, supporting loading and unloading processes
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any repairs needed to ensure optimal performance
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type being operated
- Proven experience in commercial driving, freight handling, or related roles
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently (certification preferred)
- Knowledge of safety standards related to transportation and heavy equipment operation
- Basic automotive repair skills or familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and documentation
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate deliveries and interact professionally with clients
