At First Lake Early Learning Centre, we see children as capable, curious people whose ideas help shape each day. We are looking for an educator who enjoys getting to know children, follows their interests, and helps create a place where every child feels protected, included, and connected.

Our program is play based and emergent. We are onboarding with the Pyramid Model, which supports children’s social and emotional development through responsive relationships, supportive environments, and positive approaches to behaviour. You do not need to be a Pyramid Model expert to join us. You do need to be open to learning, reflecting on your practice, and working with the team to put those approaches into action.

In this role, you will:

- Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families.
- Observe children’s interests and use them to plan meaningful play experiences.
- Support children through big feelings and challenging moments with patience, curiosity, and guidance.
- Create welcoming spaces and adapt your approach so children with different strengths and needs can participate.
- Work closely with your colleagues, share ideas, and take part in ongoing learning.




- Maintain active supervision and follow the centre’s health, safety, and licensing procedures.

We would love to hear from you if you:

- Hold a Nova Scotia early childhood educator classification appropriate for this position.
- Have valid first aid certification that includes infant CPR.
- Can provide the required criminal record and vulnerable sector checks and Child Abuse Register search.
- Believe children’s behaviour is a form of communication and are willing to look for the support a child needs.
- Welcome feedback and bring a dependable, collaborative approach to your work.

Pay: $25.61-$32.19 per hour Expected hours: 42.5 per week
