Job Description Qubec City or Montral | Leadership Position | Financial Reporting, Management and Performance Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Director, Financial Reporting for its client, an established and growing Qubec-based industry leader whose head office and primary accounting operations are located in Qubec City, with a corporate presence in Boucherville as well.

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and relevance of the organizations financial information.

Acting as a true right hand to the VP on financial reporting matters, this individual will oversee a sizeable accounting team and ensure the rigor of month-end processes, the continuous improvement of financial deliverables and the strength of the controls supporting them.

The role also includes a significant financial planning, analysis and decision-support component.

The position will be primarily office-based initially and requires a minimum of three days per week at the Qubec City office.

Candidates based in Montral will be considered provided they are willing to travel regularly to Qubec City; however, preference will be given to candidates already based in the Qubec City area.

Your Role and Responsibilities Oversee the entire financial reporting process and ensure the quality, reliability, compliance and timely delivery of financial information; Lead complex month-end and year-end closing processes by coordinating the various stakeholders, ensuring the quality of analyses, reconciliations and journal entries, and overseeing the timely resolution of discrepancies and issues; Enhance the quality, accuracy and relevance of financial deliverables to provide management with transparent, consistent and actionable information to support decision-making; Review and improve accounting processes, internal controls and work methods to strengthen the reliability of financial information, reduce risks and support more efficient execution; Lead, engage, develop and coach a team of approximately 15 employees primarily based in Qubec City,



while clarifying responsibilities and ensuring individual accountability throughout the financial reporting process; Ensure rigorous oversight of administrative and contractual requirements specific to construction activities, including releases, notices of contract and other matters requiring precise coordination with the relevant stakeholders; Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, financial projections, performance indicators and management analyses; Present financial results, variances, issues, analyses and recommendations to the VP and senior management to support business decisions; Work closely with operations and other functions across the organization to improve the quality of information provided to Finance and enhance the understanding of financial results; Act as a key partner to the digital transformation team by defining the needs of the Finance function, assessing the impact on financial information and ensuring that implemented solutions meet the teams requirements; Contribute to the evolution of accounting systems, management tools and the financial data environment, without being the primary owner of transformation projects.

Requirements More than 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial control or finance, ideally 10 years or more; CPA designation required, except for an exceptionally experienced accounting professional who can demonstrate equivalent technical and managerial expertise; Proven experience in team management, coaching and employee engagement; Strong command of the accounting cycle, financial control, financial analysis and complex month-end and year-end closing processes; Hands-on experience improving accounting processes,



internal controls and financial deliverables; Strong knowledge of accounting systems and the ability to work effectively in complex technology environments; Advanced proficiency in Excel; Ability to prepare financial projections and present complex information to senior management; Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or construction environment is considered a significant asset; Additional knowledge of corporate finance is considered an asset.
