About the team Web Presence & Platform (WPP) is organized into two pillars: Platform and Presence. The Platform pillar builds internal systems, tooling, and infrastructure to support the web. The Presence pillar owns Stripe’s public-facing storytelling across stripe.Com, including our homepage, product landing pages, industry and solutions pages, and other high-impact go-to-market surfaces. Designers on the Presence team work at the intersection of craft and impact—balancing clarity, polish, and systems thinking with strategic storytelling and conversion goals. What you’ll do As one of two Design Managers on the Presence team, you'll lead a group of exceptional designers focused on key initiatives across stripe.Com, link.Com, Bridge and Sessions. You’ll own the creative direction for areas like acquisition, global expansion, experimentation, and our annual customer event, Sessions. You’ll be responsible for defining team strategy, planning roadmaps with partners, and evolving priorities over time. You’ll coach and grow the individuals on your team, build a collaborative and healthy team culture, and uphold a high bar for quality, visual design, polish, and storytelling craft. You’ll also lead through change as we continue to adapt our tools and processes in a rapidly evolving AI-enabled world. Responsibilities Manage and grow a high‑performing design team, focusing on feedback, coaching, and long‑term career development. Inspire and motivate the team to do their best work while creating a clear design vision that aligns with Stripe’s goals. Craft novel moments of storytelling and delight for our web presence and uphold our quality standards.

Balance growth with putting users first while maintaining a very high quality bar. Champion curiosity and adoption of new AI tools and evolving ways of working. Understand global needs and design systems, including knowing when to stick to the system versus when it’s okay to break away. Often work on broadly defined concepts and at times on narrowly defined tactical deliverables. Advocate for design excellence at every stage of the product lifecycle, balancing speed, quality, and bold experimentation. Work with other design specialists and managers on team‑wide initiatives such as recruiting and developing content standards. Influence strategic decisions across all corners of our web presence. Partner with marketing, communications, growth, and Link teams to define information architecture and tell the right stories. Help scale our design systems, devise generative art directions, propose web animations, and distill interaction‑heavy product launch materials on sites such as stripe.Com. Who you are 6+ years of creative direction and management experience, and 9+ years of relevant experience in strategy, information architecture, web design and creative technology at digital‑native agencies or tech‑forward, product‑driven companies.

Leadership in driving strategic thinking for impactful digital experiences. Conviction in the web as a storytelling medium, demonstrated through a portfolio of design systems, engaging microsites, Figma libraries, WebGL experiments, CSS art, or similar. Expert understanding of the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, and proportion. Preferred qualifications Advanced knowledge of modern HTML and CSS to empathise with and lead designers and design engineers. Tenacity for moving quickly on green‑field projects while delivering on long‑term roadmaps. Experience at a company with global scale, expanding to recent markets, leading localization strategy and integrating with l10n. Accountability and high standards when working with production systems. Ability to communicate front‑end or information architecture designs using documentation and crisp visualisation. Intuition and empathy to gather consensus among stakeholders and subject‑matter experts. This role is available either in an office or at a remote location (35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office). Office‑assigned Stripe employees are expected to be present in their local office at least 50% of the month, while remote employees should regularly work from home. Stripe does not cover relocation costs to a remote location; applicants shouldapplyfor roles that match their current or planned location. The annual U.S. base salary range for this role is $194,900 – $292,300. Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends. #J-18808-Ljbffr
