We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Freelance Web Developer to join our innovative team at One Pass Automation, a Saskatchewan company that builds websites, business consoles and automations that help automate our clients workflow. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining responsive, user-friendly websites and web applications that meet diverse client needs. What you will do

- Take a project from first call to launch: talk to the client, build the console and site, launch it, and look after it after.
- Build with modern web tools and AI coding assistants. Our developer handbook and templates give you a head start, so you are building, not starting from scratch.
- Set up forms, email automations, payments, sign-offs and dashboards around how each business already works.
- Fix your clients' issues in a timely manner, from inside their console. You are the person they trust.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with clients and project teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional web solutions.
- Develop front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, SCSS/Sass, JavaScript, Angular, React, and other modern frameworks to ensure engaging user experiences.
- Build robust back-end systems utilizing technologies such as PHP, Python (Django), Java (Spring Framework), .NET (ASP.NET Core), Node.js, and Ruby on Rails.
- Integrate third-party APIs and web services including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and JSON to enhance application functionality.
- Manage databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server for efficient data storage and retrieval.




- Implement version control using Git or SVN and set up CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitHub Actions for streamlined deployment processes.
- Conduct unit testing and ensure code quality through tools like Jasmine, Karma, or Visual Studio testing frameworks.
- Optimize websites for SEO performance and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Utilize containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like AWS or Azure for scalable deployment environments.
- Follow Agile methodologies using Trello or Jira to track progress and facilitate effective communication within teams.

Skills

- Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3/SCSS/Sass, JavaScript (ES6+), AJAX, jQuery, Bootstrap, Angular, React Native, UI/UX principles.
- Strong experience with back-end development using PHP, Python (Django), Java (Spring Boot), C#, Ruby on Rails or Node.js.
- Hands-on knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with web services including RESTful APIs and SOAP protocols; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
- Experience working with containerization tools like Docker; cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure preferred.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions; experience with Ansible is advantageous.
- Ability to write clean code with a focus on scalability and performance; familiarity with TDD/Unit Testing frameworks essential.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira or Trello for project management.
- Strong understanding of system architecture principles; ability to develop scalable applications following SDLC best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with effective communication to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

What you bring





- You have built and shipped real websites or web apps with a backend, and you can show us: a portfolio, GitHub or live links.
- Comfortable with JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML and CSS, and working with APIs, databases, forms and email.
- You use AI coding tools well, and you check what they produce.
- You communicate clearly with non-technical business owners and follow through.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Able to travel to Regina, Saskatchewan for an in-person interview and for on-site training.
- Nice to have: Node and serverless functions, Stripe, Google Workspace integrations, design sense, experience with small businesses, non-profits or First Nations organizations.

Interview and training (in person, Regina, SK)

- Interviews are held in person in Regina, Saskatchewan. Applicants must be able to travel to Regina for the interview.
- Training is on site in Regina, Saskatchewan. You will learn our developer handbook, templates, client console, security and privacy rules, and how we launch and support a project. Applicants must be able to attend training in Regina.
- After training, the work is remote, with client meetings by video or in person as needed.

How you earn This is an independent contractor role, paid on commission. You are paid from what each project brings in, and there is no salary or hourly wage.

- 50% of every setup fee, paid to you at launch.
- + $1,500 bonus when you bring in the client yourself.
- 40% of the monthly fee for every client you keep looking after, for as long as they stay.
