Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable French Tutor for secondary students in Grades 8–12. Students may be taking Core French or French Immersion. Applicants should state which grades and program types they can support.

Tutors must be available for in-home sessions in Surrey, White Rock and Delta.

Responsibilities

- Provide one-on-one tutoring in French (Grades 8–12) based on each student’s current course and schoolwork.
- Support French skills such as grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Help students with assignments, class materials, and test preparation.
- Adapt lessons and teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and academic needs.
- Prepare lesson materials based on each student’s goals and course requirements.
- Create a patient, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and next steps.
- Submit session reports after each lesson to track goals and achievements.

Qualifications




- Experience tutoring or teaching secondary-level French (required).
- Strong spoken and written French skills (required).
- Experience with BC Core French and/or French Immersion is preferred. Applicants should identify the grades and program types they can teach.
- Patient, encouraging, and able to connect well with students.
- Reliable and professional; experience supporting diverse learning needs is an asset.
- Education Assistant / Special Education Assistant (EA/SEA) experience is an asset.
- BC Teacher certification preferred but not required; strong applicants with university-level French, linguistics, language, or education backgrounds will also be considered.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$34.00 per hour
