Lead Generative Artist – Animated Feature Film

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Senior / Lead Generative AI Artist to help shape the visual development and AI-assisted creative workflows for a feature animated film. This role will serve as both a creative leader and technical innovator, leveraging generative AI technologies to support world-class visual storytelling.

Working closely with the Director, and project leadership, the Senior / Lead Generative AI Artist will establish best practices for AI-assisted content creation while ensuring that all work aligns with the artistic vision, and production goals.

The ideal candidate combines outstanding artistic ability with deep expertise in generative AI tools, emerging technologies, and animation production pipelines. They are equally comfortable creating artwork, developing workflows, leading teams, and driving innovation across departments.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership

- Partner with the Director to explore and develop the film's visual language.
- Lead AI-assisted visual development initiatives across characters, environments, props, creatures, costumes, lighting, and cinematic storytelling.
- Produce high-level concept explorations, key art, visual inspiration, and creative prototypes that influence artistic direction.
- Guide the integration of AI-generated concepts into the broader visual development process.
- Ensure artistic quality, originality, and consistency across all AI-assisted creative output.

AI Strategy & Pipeline Development

- Design and implement AI-assisted workflows that enhance creative productivity while preserving artistic integrity.




- Evaluate and deploy emerging generative AI tools, models, and technologies that support production objectives.
- Establish prompt engineering standards, asset management systems, and reusable creative frameworks.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency during development, pre-production, and production.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

- Mentor visual development artists and creative teams in the effective use of generative AI tools.
- Provide creative feedback, direction, and quality control for AI-assisted artwork.
- Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

- 5 years of experience in animation, feature film, visual development, concept art, production design, games, or related creative industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading artists, creative teams, or visual development initiatives.
- Outstanding portfolio showcasing visual storytelling, design excellence, and AI-assisted creative work.
- Advanced expertise with leading generative AI platforms, image generation systems, and creative AI workflows.
- Expert-level understanding of composition, colour, lighting, cinematography, design principles, and storytelling.
- Solid proficiency in industry-standard creative tools including Photoshop, Unreal, Blender, and related software.
- Deep understanding of animated feature production pipelines and collaborative studio environments.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
