Our on-site hair salon within a long-term care home in London Ontario is seeking an experienced, compassionate Hairdresser to provide services to residents The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors, provides friendly and respectful service, and can independently organize appointments and salon operations.

Responsibilities

- Provide professional hair services, including cuts, styling, shampooing, colouring, perms and other requested services
- Schedule residents and maintain an organized appointment calendar
- Communicate respectfully with residents, families and members of the care team
- Adapt services to meet residents’ individual mobility, cognitive and communication needs
- Keep the salon, equipment and workstations clean, organized and sanitary
- Follow all infection prevention and control practices and health and safety requirements
- Properly clean and disinfect tools and equipment between residents
- Maintain resident privacy, dignity and confidentiality
- Provide consistent, high-quality service and a positive salon experience
- Promptly report any resident health or safety concerns observed during an appointment to the appropriate member of the care team

Requirements
- Valid Ontario hairstyling license or applicable certificate of qualification
- Minimum three to five years of hairstyling experience, preferably working with seniors




- Experience supporting individuals with mobility limitations, dementia or other age-related needs is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Patient, compassionate and respectful approach
- Energetic, friendly and professional manner
- Ability to work independently and manage appointments
- Solid understanding of sanitation and infection prevention practices
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Proof of full immunization (2 doses) against COVID-19
- Proof of appropriate liability insurance
- Ability to comply with the long-term care home’s policies, procedures and health requirements
