Role Description The Head of Finance & Fundraising is a full time remote role responsible for overseeing the university’s financial strategy and leading fundraising initiatives to support institutional priorities. This role manages financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective use of resources across academic and administrative units. The individual leads the development and execution of fundraising strategies, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and partnership development with individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring financial performance,



preparing and reviewing financial statements, guiding investment and funding decisions, and collaborating with leadership to align financial and fundraising goals with the university’s strategic plan. The role also involves mentoring team members, implementing process improvements, and providing clear communication and guidance to stakeholders on financial and fundraising matters.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Finance, with proven experience managing Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.

- Demonstrated Analytical Skills for interpreting complex financial data and informing strategic decision-making.

- Experience with Budgeting, including developing, monitoring, and adjusting budgets in a multifaceted organization.

- Background in fundraising or development, including donor relations, proposal development, and revenue generation strategies.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; a relevant graduate degree or skilled designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) is an asset.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote workplace and influence senior stakeholders.

- Proven leadership experience, including managing teams, setting priorities, and driving continuous improvement in financial and fundraising processes.

- Familiarity with higher education, nonprofit, or public-sector environments and knowledge of relevant financial regulations and best practices.
