Birchwood Homes is a London-area home builder known for thoughtfully designed communities and quality craftsmanship. We're looking for a creative, organized person to lead our purchasers through their interior selections, handle quoting and material ordering, permitting and keep our office running smoothly.
What you'll do:
Design
- Meet with purchasers to guide them through interior selections, including flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing and lighting fixtures, and paint
- Prepare selection sheets, finish packages and upgrade pricing, and pass accurate selections to our site team and trades
- Help design and refresh finish packages and standard features for new models and communities
- Support model home and presentation centre staging, and provide design input for marketing materials
Quoting and material ordering
- Request, compare and follow up on quotes from suppliers and trades for materials, finishes and upgrades
- Prepare upgrade and change-order quotes for purchasers
- Place and track material orders for each home, including flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, fixtures and other finishes
- Maintain the presentation and sample inventory of the Presentation Center
- Confirm quantities, pricing, lead times and delivery dates, and coordinate deliveries with the site team
- Match orders to invoices and flag discrepancies to our accounting team
Permitting & Pre-Construction
- Prepare, submit, and track all building permit applications and required documentation for all upcoming builds.
- Review and understand permit deficiency lists from city/municipal officials, and send them to the corresponding suppliers or consultants to be addressed and resolved.
- Ensure all construction documents and permit packages comply with local building codes and zoning bylaws
Office administration
- Answer phones and email and welcome visitors to the presentation centre
- Manage appointments, calendars and scheduling
- Keep purchaser files, change orders, selection records and purchase orders organized
-Help with invoices, data entry and general office tasks alongside our accounting team
- Take on other administrative duties as needed
What we're looking for
- A diploma or degree in interior design, interior decorating or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in residential construction, new home sales, a design centre, a showroom or purchasing is a strong asset
- A valuable eye for finishes, colour and current design trends
- Comfort with numbers, pricing, quotes and purchase orders
- Strong organization and attention to detail, and comfort handling several purchasers, suppliers and deadlines at once
- Clear, friendly communication with clients, trades and suppliers
- Skill with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially Excel. Experience with design software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, 2020 Design or Canva is an asset.
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for occasional site and supplier visits
