Telecom Options Inc. has been serving Manitoba businesses since 1997, expanding into full-spectrum IT services in 2015. We're a full-service B2B Managed Service Provider supporting small and medium-sized businesses across managed IT services, Microsoft 365, VoIP, alarm systems and CCTV camera systems, AV integration, internet and telephony circuits, and hardware solutions. The Role

Build a career in IT and field service right here in the Pembina Valley — no commute to Winnipeg.

We're looking for an IT Support and Field Service Technician to join our team and support clients across Winkler, Morden, and the surrounding Southern Manitoba region. This is a hands-on, client-facing role that blends IT support — workstations, networks, and Microsoft 365 environments — with field work: structured cabling, telephony, AV, and security system installs. No two days look the same — one day you might be setting up a new employee's workstation or troubleshooting a network issue on-site, the next you're running cable, installing a phone system, or mounting a camera.

This is a home-based role: you'll be dispatched directly to client sites across the region, so you must live in the Winkler/Morden area. Our Winnipeg technicians are in the region several times a week, so you'll work alongside them to learn our clients, systems, and field install standards while we determine the right fit for you and the team, with the goal of handling most calls on your own soon after you start. Work experience is an asset, but a solid technical foundation is a must.

What You'll Do

IT Support

● Troubleshoot and support Windows and macOS desktops and laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices, on-site and remotely

● Install, update, and configure software, including Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)

● Set up new workstations and handle user onboarding/offboarding and Microsoft 365 account tasks

● Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN access, routers, and switches), escalating firewall and advanced configuration to senior technicians

Field Service

● Install, terminate, test,



and label structured cabling (copper and fiber)

● Install network equipment such as switches, racks, and wireless access points

● Install and support VoIP phone systems, AV equipment, alarm/CCTV systems, and more

● Assist with internet circuit installations and cutovers

Every Day

● Document your work clearly (time, notes, materials used, and photos or port labels for installs) so the team and the client have an accurate record

● Keep clients informed by explaining what you found and what you did in plain language

● Represent Telecom Options professionally at client sites, including schools and community organizations

● Travel across Southern Manitoba to service our client base — this route is a core part of the role

What You Bring

● Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365 (macOS familiarity an asset)

● Networking fundamentals — IP addressing and subnetting, DHCP, DNS, and basic switching and routing

● Comfort with basic hand and power tools, including a drill

● A post-secondary IT diploma or certificate, industry certifications (such as CompTIA A+/Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft credentials), or equivalent hands-on experience; work experience in IT support, networking, cabling, or a related trade is a strong asset

● A valid driver's licence and a reliable personal vehicle that can carry a ladder (roof rack or equivalent) — mileage reimbursed

● Room to keep a small stock of materials in your vehicle and a few boxes at home

● Willingness to complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Abuse Registry Check (paid for by the company) — required given our school-sector clientele; any offer of employment is conditional on satisfactory results

● Trustworthy and comfortable working independently at client sites with minimal supervision — including access to sensitive systems like client networks, security systems, and building keys — plus clear communication with non-technical people and a level head when something's broken and the client is watching





● Physical readiness for field work — comfort at heights on ladders and scissor lifts (paid training provided), lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in variable conditions; CSA-approved safety boots and a hard hat required (gloves, safety glasses, a hi-vis vest, and a safety harness provided by the company)

● Residence in the Winkler/Morden area and willingness to travel across Southern Manitoba to service our client base

● A solid work ethic, reliability, comfort with variety and shifting priorities, and a genuine interest and aptitude for learning technology

● Written and spoken proficiency in English, other languages an asset but not required

Helpful, but We'll Teach You

● Cable termination, testing, and labelling (copper and fiber)

● VoIP phone system, AV, and alarm/CCTV installation

● Our client environments, tools, and install standards
