JOB PURPOSE

The Phlebotomists performs venous and capillary blood procurement.

QUALIFICATIONS

- High school graduation plus a Phlebotomy certification of 8 weeks or equivalent.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Phlebotomist is responsible for:

- Ensures patient identification matches with order sheet.
- Enters requisition data; prints bar code labels and labels specimens.
- Draws venous and capillary blood for analysis.
- Records procedures and tests; compiles statistics.
- Collects specimens such as urea breath tests, sweat chloride as required.
- Prepares and transports specimens to laboratory according to Transportation of Dangerous good requirements.
