About the Role

Are you an experienced communications professional with a passion for storytelling, employee engagement and building strong brands?

AV Dawson is looking for a Marketing and Communications Executive to join our Marketing team on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting chance to support with the delivery of internal and external communications across a diverse and growing family-owned logistics business, helping to enhance colleague engagement, strengthen our reputation and bring our company values to life.

Working closely with the Group Head of Marketing, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering communication campaigns, creating engaging content across multiple channels, supporting community and CSR initiatives and ensuring our communications remain consistent, impactful and aligned to business objectives.

This is a hands-on role that combines strategic thinking with content creation and campaign delivery, offering the opportunity to make a real impact across the business and wider community.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and deliver internal and external communications plans that support business objectives, company culture and colleague engagement.
- Create engaging content across a range of channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, digital screens, presentations, publications and marketing materials.
- Partner with colleagues across the business to identify and communicate success stories, business updates, customer case studies and key projects.
- Lead the planning and delivery of internal communication campaigns, including wellbeing initiatives, safety communications, company updates and colleague engagement activities.
- Manage and maintain AV Dawson's digital communication channels, ensuring content is relevant, engaging and aligned with brand guidelines.




- Develop and implement social media content plans and campaigns to support brand awareness, employer brand and business objectives.
- Monitor communication and marketing performance, using analytics and audience insights to continuously improve engagement and effectiveness.
- Support the promotion and communication of AV Dawson's corporate social responsibility, charity, community engagement and employee volunteering initiatives.
- Coordinate public relations activity including press releases, award submissions, media opportunities and external stakeholder communications.
- Lead communications support for internal and external events, exhibitions and stakeholder engagement activities, including the creation of promotional materials and event communications.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, suppliers and partners to support the delivery of communications and marketing activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing, Communications and Events Assistant to ensure the successful delivery of campaigns, content and events.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Experience in a communications, marketing or PR role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to create engaging content for a variety of audiences and communication channels.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.




- Confidence building relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
- Experience using content creation, design and editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms.
- Analytical mindset with experience using communication and social media performance data.
- Creative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Alignment with AV Dawson's values of Safety, Integrity, Family and Resourceful.

Desirable

- Degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.
- Experience of internal communications and employee engagement programmes.
- Experience in B2B marketing or communications.
- Photography, video creation and editing skills.
