Oriole Nursery School is a non-profit preschool in the Yonge and St.Clair area. We are a parent-run cooperative, where parents get the unique opportunity to participate in the program alongside RECE’s and Assistant Teachers.

We are currently hiring candidates to work occasional or on-call shifts our Toddler, Junior and Senior classes (18 months-5 year olds); Monday to Friday 8:30am-1:15pm OR 8am until 3:30pm.

We are hiring for the following positions:

1. An RECE to work in all 3 classes, and to cover the lead RECE in all classes in the case of illness or absences.
2. An assistant to work in all 3 classes, a few shifts a week- the schedule may vary

(At this time, this is an occasional position, but does have the potential to turn into a longer term/contracted position.) Assistant Teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In conjunction with other teachers, plan and implement daily program plans and curriculum, using ELECT
- Conducts ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental needs of all children
- Documents children’s progress and learning daily, in conjunction with other teachers
- Engages children in play, assists children with diapering and dressing, helps to prepare and serve snack,



assists with set-up and clean-up of the school
- Assists with housekeeping responsibilities such as daily cleaning and maintenance of classrooms and playground, cleaning and disinfecting of toys and furniture

Ideal candidates MUST
- Have previous experience working in a child care environment with children, aged 18 months to 4 year olds
- Have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate
- Have a clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (Oriole will pay for and assist in obtaining)

- Submit current immunization records
- Be fluent in the English language- both oral and written
- Be able to multi-task, work well in a team atmosphere
- Be patient, nurturing, enthusiastic and energetic
- Have a flexible schedule, and be available to work on-call shifts
- If applying as an RECE, candidates MUST be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
