**Job Title: Construction Technician**
**Job Description**
The Construction Technician refurbishes, repairs, and prepares modular units when they return to the shop and assists with unit setups as needed.

This role involves performing a variety of light construction, renovation, and maintenance tasks using hand and power tools in a comfortable, climate-controlled bay environment.
**Responsibilities**
Clean, refurbish, and fix modular units when they return to the shop, ensuring they are in good working condition and ready for reuse.

Perform light construction and renovation tasks on modular units, including putting up minor interior walls and completing small repairs.

Use hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other basic tools safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.

Inspect units for minor issues and perform repairs such as fixing wheels and other small components.

Assist with setting up modular units on-site or in the yard when needed, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

Carry out basic carpentry, framing, and general construction work as required for unit refurbishment.

Support minor work related to HVAC, electrical, or plumbing within the modular units under appropriate guidance, when applicable.

Complete various shop and bay tasks as assigned to keep the workspace organized, efficient, and safe.

Collaborate with a small team in the shop to coordinate work on units and meet project timelines.

Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly work area in the construction bay and surrounding spaces.
**Essential Skills**
Experience using basic hand and power tools, including hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar equipment.

Background working in construction or on job sites where renovations are being performed.

Hands-on renovation experience, such as basic framing, carpentry, and general repair work.

Ability to perform minor construction tasks, including putting up small interior walls and completing light structural adjustments in modular units.

Capability to troubleshoot and fix minor mechanical issues, such as repairing wheels and small components on units.

Comfort working in a shop or bay environment and occasionally outdoors as needed.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Any construction-related certifications or formal training are helpful.

Experience with HVAC systems is a plus.

Experience with basic electrical work is a plus.

Experience with plumbing tasks in a construction or renovation setting is a plus.

General carpentry skills beyond basic framing are beneficial.

Interest in growing into a supervisory or leadership role as the shop expands.

**Work Environment**
Work primarily takes place in an air-conditioned construction bay that is comfortable and well-suited for hands-on tasks with modular units.

While most duties occur indoors, you will occasionally go outside as needed for setups or other tasks.

The role follows a day shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours in a stable, shop-based environment.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
