As the Genome Editing Pipeline Integration Lead, you are a key driver of technical strategy at the intersection of genome editing and precision breeding within Bayer Crop Science.

You are part of the Product Design Capability Center and report to the Head of Product Design.

In this role, you define and continuously improve the strategy for moving edited alleles through the germplasm pipeline, optimizing the balance of genetic variation from editing and traditional breeding.

The Product Design Capability Center plays a central role in shaping the future of crop improvement globally, and your leadership will directly influence how breakthrough editing technologies translate into commercial breeding impact.
**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
•Lead the definition and continuous improvement of the strategy for moving edited alleles from edit creation through phenotyping and population development into the appropriate breeding populations, environments, and product pipelines;
•Develop strategies for embedding edited germplasm into precision breeding at scale through fit-for-purpose pathways, including direct editing and crossing strategies, that accelerate allele frequency gain while protecting elite germplasm value;
•Lead the development of frameworks to measure transition efficiency outcomes and drive continuous improvement using metrics for cycle time, advancement rate, allele integration, testing readiness, adoption, and realized impact;




•Optimize the end-to-end workflow by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in material handoffs, seed readiness, stewardship, logistics, testing, data flow, and advancement decisions;
•Establish shared standards, accountabilities, and decision criteria across genome editing and crop breeding teams so that edited materials advance consistently based on technical quality, predicted value, regulatory readiness, and pipeline need;
•Collaborate with Product Development and Commercial teams to secure demand pull and develop novel strategies for valuing and positioning germplasm;
•Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and Long-Range Plan (LRP), ensuring alignment with high-level functional and commercial goals;
•Drive a culture of HS&E;, Compliance, DEI, Business Conduct, and Human Rights focus across the Capability Hub.
**WHO YOU ARE**
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
**Required Qualifications:**
•Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science, or a related field;
•Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics, and/or quantitative genetics, with a proven track record of driving innovation;
•Strong ability to collaborate and build cross-functional partnerships to solve business and technical problems;
•Demonstrated VACC leadership attributes, with the ability to inspire and engage peers, colleagues, and external partners across Bayer Crop Science.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
•PhD with 5+ years of technology leadership experience, or MS with 8+ years of technology leadership experience in a relevant field.

•In the US, employees can expect to be paid a salary between ($154300 to $231500).

This range reflects the national US market rate (“salary range”) for base pay for the relevant role.

The base salary range for this role is between $142,240- $213,360 .
