Male Addiction Recovery Co-Lead

Contract (12-14 days/month; second half of the month)

The Addiction Recovery Co-Lead is an important leadership position within the treatment program and is the first point of contact for all living with addictions in Cat Lake First Nation. The two Co-Leads will work collaboratively to help people find a treatment path most suited to their goals.

This person will:

- Work diligently to build trusting, friendly, and caring relationships with clients, colleagues, and community leadership to earn mutual trust
- Meet one-on-one with people, and their support circle to assess their recovery goals and help them navigate the stages of recovery, includingdetox, stabilization, trauma recovery, and reintegration into community life in a meaningful way.
- Facilitate recovery groups such as NA/AA, sharing circles, men’s groups, and psycho-educational workshops on various topics related to relapse prevention, personal awareness, and interpersonal skills using a decolonizing lens.
- Support the Contingency Management program, including weekly urine testing, meeting with clients, managing their goals and recovery incentives.
- Connect clients with a psychotherapist (in person or online) using the roster of therapists being developed.
- Respond to mental health emergencies as they arise.
- Participate in case conferences with other staff, addiction physicians, and others involved in a client's circle of care.
- Initiate programming to build skills and relationships with people using their interests as a starting point. Examples may include Anishnaabe cultural programming, cooking, visual arts, music, woodworking and land-based skills.
- Assist with Suboxone Direct Observed Therapy when needed.
- Other matters that arise related to addiction recovery support.

Our ideal candidate will:

- Have formal education in social work, mental health, addiction recovery or a related field with 10 + years of experience.
- Have a proven track record of working with people who have experienced trauma.
- Have an approach to practice that is strength-based and motivational.
- Work well within a team and independently.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Be an engaging and knowledgeable facilitator of psycho-educational workshops related to all aspects of recovery.
- Maturity of character, stability in life, and no active addictions.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Have a strong understanding of the connection between colonialism and addiction and the lived experiences of Indigenous peoples in NorthwesternOntario.
- Be able to live in the community for 12-14 days during the second half of each month. The community provides accommodations free of charge.

Compensation:

$700-900/day commensurate with experience and education.

Key Information:Cat Lake is a fly-in community, so candidates must be willing to live in the community for 12 to 14 days each month. Travel to the community is paid from within Northwestern Ontario.
