Prep Cook

Sumu Restaurant
Wage: $19–$21 per hour

Sumu Restaurant is a new Japanese-French fusion restaurant focused on combining Japanese ingredients and techniques with the precision and foundations of French cuisine.

We are currently looking for a reliable and motivated Prep Cook to join our opening kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop strong kitchen fundamentals and gain experience in a professional, quality-driven workplace.

Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients according to recipes, prep lists, and chef specifications

Wash, peel, cut, portion, and organize vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients

Assist with sauces, stocks, garnishes, and other daily mise en place

Properly label, date, store, and rotate products

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation

Follow food safety and kitchen sanitation standards

Assist the Line Cooks and Chef team when required

Receive and properly store deliveries

Complete daily prep efficiently and consistently

Qualifications





Previous kitchen or prep experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate

Basic knife skills and understanding of kitchen operations

Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

Reliable, punctual, and organized

Able to work efficiently in a rapid-paced environment

Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

Interest in Japanese and/or French cuisine is an asset
