Our client is a well-established and growing infrastructure services organization specializing in delivering complex field operations, maintenance, and project services within highly safety-focused and operationally demanding environments.They are currently adding a General Superintendent to their Abbotsford, BC team. The new hire will be responsible for overseeing and managing all phases of railway track construction and maintenance projects including safety, scheduling, coordinating workers, materials and equipment, supervising sub-contractors, ensuring that specifications are being followed and that work is completed safely, on schedule and within budget.This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and respected employer undergoing continued expansion and investment across multiple regions.The General Superintendent will be on-site (projects in the Lower Mainland) as well as in the office.Responsibilities:Provides leadership and oversight to all construction efforts to ensure that all projects are executed in accordance with the design, budget, and scheduleEnsures adequate resources are in place including scheduling labour, equipment, materials that will meet schedule, quality, and budgetPerforms in-depth review of drawings, designs and contract documentation to become familiar with all details, notes and requirementsSupervises total construction and maintenance effort in the field to ensure work is in accordance with design, specifications, budget and scheduleMonitors quality standards of all work, including sub-contractor performanceResponsible for productivity of workers and effective use of materials and equipmentReports production quantities to the office and reviews labour productivity reports on a weekly basisAble to understand contracts, and scope of work.



Will work with Project Management Team with identifying and managing any potential change ordersMonitors and adheres to established budgets for the jobInvestigates alternative work methods and materials which will either improve efficiency and/or the quality of work performedMonitors job schedules and coordinates sub-contractors’ work and suppliers’ deliveries and equipment needs, taking appropriate action as necessaryEnsures all field personnel comply with Company policies, project procedures, safety program and work rules, taking corrective action as necessaryReviews and approves timesheets for accuracy, job coding, equipment, material, etc.Participates in invoicing, identifies and administers extra to be invoiced. Gets involved with outstanding A / R’s when requiredEstablishes and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholdersActs as a liaison among owners, inspectors, staff and subcontractorsAssists with the preparation of written reports and/or updates for management, client, and project team, to ensure a clear understanding of project statusWilling to engage with new clients to grow businessQualifications:A minimum of 10 years recent related construction experience including a thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods and process. Prior railway experience is highly preferredDemonstrated experience applying knowledge of basic project controls, material management, contract management, subcontract managementTrack record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budgetValid and clean Driver’s LicenseHigh School graduation plus post-secondary training in a related field or equivalent education, training and experienceStrong management skills and ability to motivate employeesAbility to use Microsoft Office softwareProficient in excel with an ability to build schedules, lists, and small estimatesEffective organizational, communication and client relations skillsAbility to read and comprehend drawings and specificationsAbility to pass background checks including pre-employment drug screeningAvailability to work nights/weekends as neededPhysical ability to perform the duties of the jobCompensation:$150,000-180,000 annual base salaryDiscretionary bonus based on company, office, project, and safety performance#J-18808-Ljbffr
