L&C; French Bakery is looking for a reliable, energetic, and detail-oriented Barista to join our team at our Fairview cafe in Nelson, BC.

We are an authentic French bakery and pâtisserie, and our Fairview location is our vibrant sit-down neighborhood hub (30 indoor seats and 30 patio seats). We’re looking for someone who takes pride in crafting quality coffee, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys delivering warm customer service to our daily coffee and lunch regulars.

Position Details

- Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (20–40 hours per week available)
- Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday (Daytime shifts)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Wage: $18.25–$19/hour + tips (depending on experience)
- Work Location: In person (Fairview Location – Nelson, BC)

Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso beverages, specialty coffee, teas, and cold drinks to recipe standards.
- Dial in espresso daily, adjust grinder settings, and maintain consistent beverage quality.
- Serve our full selection of French pastries, viennoiserie, desserts, and savory brioche lunch items with sound product knowledge.
- Operate our Clover POS system accurately to process customer payments.
- Manage morning coffee and lunch rushes efficiently while keeping service smooth and welcoming.
- Keep the espresso station, counter, dining areas, and patio clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Follow proper sanitation, food safety, and opening/closing procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team regarding FOH product stock and customer needs.

Requirements

- Minimum 1 year of barista or specialty coffee experience preferred.
- Previous hospitality or customer service experience required.
- Currently living in Nelson or the surrounding area, or willing to relocate prior to starting.
- Fluent in English to interact clearly with customers and communicate with the team.
- Reliable, punctual,



and able to stay calm and efficient under pressure.
- If working on a visa, must have at least 1 year remaining on a valid Canadian work permit.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
