The City of Timmins is currently seeking qualified casual employees to join our team on an as-needed basis. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals with experience in various areas of construction and equipment operation. Hours of work will be provided on a call-in, as needed basis.

Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Equipment Operator will be expected to perform labourer tasks as well as operate machinery as assigned.

Duties

Perform labourer work as assigned

Independently operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.

Complete internal orientation or limited job-specific training related to organization policies, procedures, or safety obligations.

Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

A DZ class licence or higher is required for dump truck and snow plow operations.





Grade 12 education or equivalency.

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and ability to operate multiple pieces of industry related equipment – qualification and relevant experience must be clearly outlined in one or more of the following areas: asphalt work, concrete work, dump truck operation, grader operation, loader operation, backhoe operation, and light tractor operation

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Good knowledge of the names and locations of City streets.

Physical ability to perform medium to heavy category work.

Transparent Driver’s Abstract required.
