Position: Classroom Support – Teaching Assistant

Hours: Supply Coverage (As Needed Basis)

Rate of Pay: $17.60

Location: Mary Poppins Co-Operative Preschool – Caledonia, ON

About Us: Mary Poppins Co-Operative Preschool has served the community of Caledonia, providing exceptional early childhood education since 1966. We are a non-profit preschool offering part time programs for Preschoolers (2.5years+). The school is owned and operated by member parents. We implement an emergent curriculum and provide a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Hours of operation: Monday-Thursday 9:00am - 1:30pm, Friday 9:30am -11:30am.

Please note this is a CASUAL position - supply coverage on an as needed basis. 1 week of training to be provided in the classroom at the time of hire.

Responsibilities:

· Assist Lead Teacher: Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, physical, emotional and social growth.

· Classroom Management: Support the lead teacher in maintaining a well organized and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning. Assist with transitions, routines and behaviour management strategies.

· Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to children as needed, ensuring that each child receives attention and support based on their individual needs.

· Curriculum Implementation: Assist in implementing the curriculum,



including preparing materials, setting up learning centers and facilitating hands on learning experiences.

· Parent Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with parents and caregivers, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns or questions.

· Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by closely monitoring their activities, maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, and following health and safety protocols.

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Highschool Diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous experience working with toddler/preschool aged children.

· Solid communication and interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Patience, flexibility and a genuine passion for working with young children.

· Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of a dynamic classroom environment.

· Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.

· Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.

· WHMIS Training.

· Safety in 4 Steps (Occupational Health and Safety Training).

· Safe Food Handlers Training.

· Accessibility For Ontarians With Disabilities Training.
