DataStage Developer

Primary Skills

We are seeking an experienced DataStage Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in IBM DataStage, ETL development, batch processing, and production support. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of DataStage architecture, job development, scheduling, Unix/Linux scripting, Oracle databases, and enterprise production support processes. The role will be responsible for developing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting ETL workflows while working closely with technical teams to ensure reliable and timely data processing.

Key Responsibilities

IBM DataStage & ETL

- Design, develop, maintain, and support ETL jobs using IBM DataStage.
- Work with common DataStage components including Stages, Sequencers, Connectors, and Parameter Sets.
- Understand and work with DataStage architecture, including Conductor, Worker Nodes, WAS Servers, and configuration files.
- Use DataStage Designer, Director, and Administrator Console for development, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze existing DataStage code, source-to-target mappings, and technical design documents.
- Monitor and support batch jobs and resolve ETL processing issues.
- Perform incident investigation, root cause analysis, and basic performance tuning.
- Ensure ETL processes meet defined quality, performance, and support requirements.

Autosys

- Monitor and troubleshoot Autosys jobs and workflows.
- Understand job design, control flows,



dependencies, and scheduling.
- Investigate failed jobs and coordinate resolution of batch-processing issues.
- Support scheduling and execution of enterprise batch processes.

Unix/Linux

- Develop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation and troubleshooting.
- Perform file system navigation, permission management, and log analysis.
- Analyze existing scripts, files, and application logs to identify and resolve issues.
- Execute troubleshooting activities within Unix/Linux environments.

Oracle Database

- Write and troubleshoot SQL queries, DML, and DDL statements.
- Use basic PL/SQL for debugging and data investigation.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity and data-related issues.
- Perform data validation and support ETL-related database activities.

Production Support & BAU

- Provide ongoing production support and Business-As-Usual (BAU) support for ETL applications.
- Monitor production processes and respond to incidents within defined SLAs.
- Work with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow and Jira.
- Support change management, deployment, and release activities.
- Maintain and update technical and support documentation.
- Perform impact analysis and regression testing for application changes.
- Coordinate with development, database, infrastructure,



and business teams to resolve production issues.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ years of hands-on DataStage development experience.
- Solid experience with IBM DataStage and ETL development.
- Knowledge of DataStage stages, sequencers, connectors, and parameter sets.
- Understanding of DataStage architecture and administration components.
- Experience with Autosys job scheduling and monitoring.
- Strong Unix/Linux knowledge with shell scripting experience.
- Robust Oracle SQL skills with basic PL/SQL knowledge.
- Experience with batch job monitoring and production support.
- Understanding of source-to-target mapping and technical design documentation.
- Experience with incident management and root cause analysis.
- Basic ETL and application performance tuning experience.

Production Support Skills

- Experience working with enterprise ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and Jira.
