We’re looking for an experienced weekend barista to join our small team at Saudade Bookshop & Café.

This is a hands-on barista role at our take-away focused coffee counter. We’re looking for someone who is confident behind the bar, friendly with customers, reliable, and comfortable working independently as well as alongside our team.

Availability
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Approximately 12–19 hours per week
Weekend availability is essential

What You’ll Do
Prepare espresso-based drinks consistently and efficiently
Dial in espresso and adjust the grinder as needed
Steam milk and prepare drinks to our standards
Provide warm and friendly customer service
Operate the POS and process customer orders
Maintain a clean and organized coffee bar
Clean and maintain the espresso machine and other café equipment
Restock and keep the café ready for service




Complete opening/closing duties as scheduled
Occasionally assist with the retail side of the shop when needed

What We’re Looking For
Previous barista experience
Robust espresso and milk-steaming skills
Comfortable dialing in espresso
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
Friendly and confident with customers
Able to work efficiently during busy periods
Food Handler Certificate required
Portuguese knowledge or background is an asset, but not required

Saudade is a neighbourhood bookshop, lifestyle store and café rooted in Portuguese culture and community. We’re looking for someone who appreciates outstanding coffee, hospitality and being part of a small, cooperative team. Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
