Reporting to the Director of Operations and serving as a member of the Executive Team, the Director, Food & Beverage is responsible for leading the complete Food & Beverage experience at Thermea Spa Village Whitby.

This is more than a restaurant leadership role. Food & Beverage is an integral part of the guest journey and an important expression of our village, our culture and our brand. From relaxed, approachable moments to elevated dining experiences, the Director will ensure every Food & Beverage touchpoint feels intentional, welcoming, distinctive and connected to the overall Thermea experience.

Leading a complex, high-volume, multi-outlet operation, the Director will bring together exceptional hospitality leadership, operational discipline, financial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset. They will balance outstanding guest experiences with sustainable business performance while continuously looking for opportunities to innovate, evolve and improve.

As an Executive Team member, the Director will think beyond their own department. They will work collaboratively across the village, contribute to broader business strategy and help build a culture grounded in trust, accountability, positivity, curiosity and continuous improvement.

Whatyou’lldo

Management Activities: planning, organization, and control

- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all Food & Beverage activities to achieve the objectives of the organization and deliver a best-in-class, trouble-free guest experience.




- Lead a complex, high-volume, multi-outlet Food & Beverage operation, ensuring consistency, quality and operational excellence across all areas.
- Develop and execute annual operating plans, budgets and forecasts, with accountability for revenue, labour, food and beverage costs, margins and overall financial performance.
- Analyze key performance indicators and operational data to identify trends, understand root causes, challenge assumptions and continuously improve performance.
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue and profitability while protecting the guest experience and the Thermea brand.
- Develop pricing, menu, promotional and service strategies informed by guest expectations, market trends, business performance and the positioning of the village.
- Establish and maintain strong operational systems and standards across Front of House and Back of House.
- Ensure all Food & Beverage experiences complement the overall wellness journey and contribute to the feeling of “somewhere else.”
- Maintain exceptional standards for food safety, health and safety, cleanliness, regulatory compliance and guest-facing presentation.
- Ensure effective systems are in place to monitor guest feedback, service standards and recovery opportunities.
- Bring curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset to the operation, continually seeking opportunities to innovate, evolve and improve.

Leadership and collaboration

- Provide leadership in the management and direction of support staff. Determine priorities, workloads and work schedules;
- Serve as an active member of the Executive Team, contributing to the broader strategy, priorities and success of Thermëa Spa Village Whitby.
- Lead, coach and develop the Food & Beverage leadership team, creating clear expectations, accountability and strong succession capability.
- Build a positive, high-performing culture grounded in trust, collaboration, respect, curiosity and continuous improvement.
- Be a visible and engaged leader throughout the village, maintaining meaningful connections with artisans, leaders and guests.
- Create an environment where leaders are empowered to make decisions, solve problems and develop their teams.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, development and performance management across the department.
- Partner closely with Operations, Guest Experience, Rituals, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Technical Services and other departments to create a seamless village experience.
- Support major projects, new concepts, capital initiatives and future development affecting Food & Beverage.




- Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, contractors, consultants and other external partners.
- Represent Thermea Spa Village within the hospitality community and relevant industry networks;
- Supervise staff in order to maintain a work climate conducive to the retention and mobilization of personnel;
- Manage other contractual services (staff, consultants, contractors) required to provide the services offered by the department;
- Coordinate with other departments of the company on major projects and initiatives affecting them and the experience.
- Represent the Spa in your area of responsibility (with F & B industry associations, business communities, government authorities and clients).

What You Bring:

- University degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, or equivalent relevant experience;
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a management position in the restaurant or hospitality industry;
- Strong sense of hospitality and commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience;
- A natural teacher, coach and mentor to others;
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, engage and develop high-performing teams;
- Sense of challenge, perseverance and a positive, solutions-oriented mindset;
- Entrepreneurial spirit; action- and results-oriented;
- Strong business and financial acumen, with an understanding of labour, food and beverage costs, productivity and operational performance;
- Culinary skills and knowledge of techniques, products and recipes to support the creation of appealing dishes and menus is an asset;
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills;
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong relationships across departments, with suppliers and industry partners;
- Ability to inspire and mobilize teams toward the achievement of objectives;
- Comfortable contributing as a member of the Executive Team and supporting the broader success of the village.
- Ability to work a versatile schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays when needed in order to support the team and drive operational success.
