Job Summary

Reporting to the Child Care Supervisor, the Teacher Assistant provides assistance to Registered Early Childhood Educators in a child care setting with the general supervision of the children, participating in the preparation and implementation of the day to day activities of a child care program following the philosophy, program statement and guidelines established by the Centre.

Minimum Qualifications

- Establish and maintain positive daily communication with children, families, staff and community contacts.
- Supervises children in their daily routine and ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Being alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group, treating all children with dignity and respect.
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the child care centre and confidentiality of all clientele.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
- Assist in the planning and implementing of the program and the child care environment in accordance with the policies, procedures, program statement and the philosophy of the Centre under the direction of the Teacher,



ensuring that guiding pedagogical documents are followed.
- Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities.
- Responsible for reporting concerns to the Supervisor and work cooperatively with all staff members.
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, training programs and assisting with special events planned by the Centre as required.
- Other duties related to the position as assigned.

Requirements & Responsibilities

- Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Additional courses relevant to the field of Early Childhood Education would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
- Ability to obtain a clear vulnerable sector check.
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a busy child care environment.
- Ability to follow direction and work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to support children’s learning, development, and well-being in an inclusive child care environment.
