Overview

Reporting to Supervisor of Operations, the Heavy Equipment Operator will work as a collaborative member of the Operations team, contributing to a supportive and creative work environment.

Responsibilities
Operate large heavy equipment, including rubber tire backhoe, loader , dozer, grader, and hydraulic excavator ), to perform excavation, construction and snow removal work.
Perform daily maintenance circle checks on all pieces of equipment prior to operation and follow all pre-trip inspections guidelines.
Maintain an awareness of surroundings at all times, including location of other staff members and underground/overhead utilities to ensure safety of self, other staff, the public, and private property
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Experience




Ability to successfully complete required progression criteria as it relates to this job title.

Additional Requirements
Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in valuable standing.
Competent in the use of a rubber-tired backhoe and loader (subject to assessment as necessary).
Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities.
Available for winter call outs as required.
Reliable with a positive attitude and employment record.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour.
